All chiropractors are trained to work on people when they are pregnant, but that doesn't necessarily mean it is their focus and passion. It is possible to OVER adjust the body during pregnancy due to Relaxin, the hormone which softens the pelvic ligaments, so it's important to use gentle, low force techniques.
Dr. Erika's regular appointments are 20 minutes long to ensure you get a thorough adjustment suited to where you are at in pregnancy. She is certified in Webster technique, a skill set specific to balancing the uterus and pelvis. It is often nicknamed the "baby spinning" technique because it can be helpful in creating space for baby to move into a more optimal position for delivery. It is simply a great approach for helping you feel more comfortable as you grow! Many patients report improvement in sleep, reduction in aches and pains like sciatica, SI joint pain, round ligament spasms, shortness of breath, heartburn, low back pain and so much more.
Dr. Erika's custom full-drop table is designed to accommodate pregnant bellies, all the way until the end. Combining arthrostim, drops, activator, and manual adjustments, her variety of techniques ensure a comprehensive adjustment.
In addition, because Dr. Erika's practice is neurologically-based, you can feel confident that your adjustments are assisting with optimal development for your baby, as well.
New patients require a 45 minute initial appointment, which includes an adjustment. Future appointments are 20 minutes, generally recommended along the schedule of your prenatal visits with your provider (once a month early on, then every 2 or 3 weeks, then 1 time a week toward the end).
If you have not been seen for more than 6 months, you will need to book a longer new patient appointment again to ensure your history is updated and a full exam can be done.
